New software product replicates both data and filer configurations to eliminate delays in storage recovery.

CAMPBELL, CA – October 20, 2006 - ONStor today announced its new ONStor Mirror Data Replication software which allows users to replicate not only data, but also filer configurations among sites, thus minimizing the downtime associated with bringing a backup data set on line. Utilizing asynchronous replication of both data and filer configuration information, ONStor Mirror provides a cost-effective data protection and disaster recovery solution that both protects data and eliminates configuration inconsistencies among sites that can delay access to data.

With ONStor Mirror, all user data and configuration information, including virtual servers, authentications, and network configurations are automatically mirrored to the secondary site via either IP or Fibre Channel links, thus creating an easily accessed replica of the original filer environment. An intuitive graphical UI simplifies installation and set up. Once ONStor Mirror has been deployed, users are able to schedule synchronization events so that selected intervals meet application and bandwidth requirements.

Ensures timely data access when it's needed most

When an unforeseen event demands the use of a replicated data set, configuration inconsistencies between the primary and target sites can delay recovery by forcing administrators to manually reconnect users and applications with data. In large installations, this process may take hours or days. ONStor Mirror eliminates this issue by automatically updating configuration settings at the target location to ensure an exact replica of the primary, thus streamlining the recovery process at the most critical time.

With ONStor Mirror, a single device can serve as the replication target for multiple initiators enabling multiple remote sites to replicate to a single location. In conjunction with ONStor Mirror, all models of the ONStor Bobcat NAS Gateway and Pantera Clustered NAS systems can be used as either initiators or targets. By sending only changed data to the target, ONStor Mirror keeps network traffic to a minimum.
