EverON Global Namespace Manager

EverON Global Namespace technology provides a key foundation for simplifying data management in a distributed file storage environment. Global Namespace (GNS) Manager virtualizes multiple file systems on disparate machines to present a single logical file system to end-users and applications. A single logical file system simplifies client access to data and shields end-users from the complexities of adding, moving and rebalancing the file data storage in your enterprise.

  • Global virtualization across ONStor NAS and Windows file systems.
  • Single logical mount point eliminates file system re-mapping to clients
  • Single cluster-wide namespace
  • Up to 100 separate name spaces in a single EverON Cluster
  • Fully integrated with Microsoft DFS

  • Saves significant operational costs by drastically simplifying movement of data between file/Virtual
Servers in a distributed or consolidated NAS infrastructure
  • Improves data and information availability by shielding end-users from changes in the file storage
    infrastructure
  • Enables IT managers to react and respond quickly to the changing needs of their organization while still reducing cost

Single File System Mount Point

Today's file storage environments are highly distributed. The management of such a distributed data presents challenging problems for the administrators particularly when it comes to adding new users, increasing capacity and rebalancing file systems. EverON GNS Manager leverages Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) infrastructure to present a logical layer between clients and file servers. GNS Manager stitches together individual EverON StorFS as well as Microsoft NTFS file systems to present a single logical file system to end users and applications. It makes the file storage invisible to the users enabling uniform and global path names to persistently address file data so that any underlying changes to the file storage never affects the end-users.

Transparent Storage Rebalancing

EverON GNS Manager delivers location-independent file services across multiple, heterogeneous, distributed file systems. With ONStor GNS, an administrator can instantaneously move physical file system storage between EverON Virtual Servers and NAS systems in a cluster while keeping it transparent to clients. File system mount points remain the same and so no remounting of file systems is needed. EverON Global Namespace can be implemented as a standalone namespace in a cluster and can also be incorporated into a Microsoft DFS-based enterprise wide name space.
